Hello Sun Room Families!
 
We had a busy week heading into our Spring Break! 
 
Inspired by recent events, I decided to focus on the concept of friendship in school this week.  We discussed aspects of friendship and our friends. How we are different and similar. Why we need our differences to help and support each other. How to be flexible with  each other in play, sharing of toys and in life. It was an impressive conversation filled with beautiful expressions of kindness, acceptance and mutual respect. I feel very proud of our Sun Community.
 
Classroom Activities
 

• We with painted using paints and various shaped stamping sponges.
• We read and discussed "Can I Play Too?".
• We read and discussed, in depth, the book, "A Cat and A Dog". 
• Then, the children drew pictures of scenes from the story and described what they drew to the teachers. The lesson, drawings and description were posted on the outside bulletin board for all to see!
• We made beautiful paintings with paints in blues and greens.

Hello Sun Room Families!
 
We went from playing on the roof last week to a snow day this week! We enjoyed our school wide sing-a-long assembly.
 
Classroom Activities

• We had our monthly assembly on Monday! The entire school sang songs together. We even tried a song in French, Frere Jacques!
• We painted with dotters.
• We made amazing structures with legos.
• We played "Memory"

Hello Sun Room Families!
 
We have been settling back into our routine this week after a long weekend. We tried something new this week quite by accident. It turned out that three children just happened to bring interesting items into the classroom on the same day. So we had an impromptu Show & Tell!  

For the first time in a long time, we went to the roof and enjoyed playing outside in the beautiful weather! There was lots of new, fun equipment that we enjoyed exploring!
 
Classroom Activities

• We experimented with Towel Art. We used  markers to draw on paper towels. Then we filled sprayed bottles with water and sprayed the paper towels. This made the markers run, creating interesting patterns. It was really hard to push down on the sprayers which made this both a fun art and fine motor activity.
• We experimented with plastic bags, gels and gems. It was a wonderful sensory activity that we all delighted in.
• We played Candy Land in small groups!
• We had an impromptu "Show & Tell"!
