Week of 5/14

5/18/2018

Hello Sky Room Families!

We had another fun-filled week in the Sky Room. Here are some of the exciting activities we did!

Classroom Activities:

  • We made giraffes! Each student was asked to glue down a giraffe, and count out 5 spots to glue onto the giraffe’s body. The students also added a googly-eye, and some “grass” by using green paper. Each giraffe looks uniquely different, as some students wanted grass up in the air, or on the giraffe’s face! The students had a lot of fun getting creative with their giraffes, which are now displayed on the inside classroom bulletin board.
  • We took a trip to the school library to visit Lindsay. The students loved being inside of the library and seeing all of the books in the shelves. Lindsay, of course, pulled out her ukelele and sang sweet songs and read some silly books. The students really seem to particularly love “Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes”.
  • We sang songs and danced around with Noel in Music.
  • In Art Studio, we did some “frozen finger painting” using ice cubs and paint!

Songs We Sang:
  • “Victor Vito and Freddie Vasko”
  • “You Are My Sunshine"

Books We Read:

  • “Once Upon A Potty”, by Alona Frankel
  • “Daniel Tiger’s: Big Enough To Help”, by Becky Friedman

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Week of 5/7

5/11/2018

Hello Sky Room Families!

We had tons of fun this week in the Sky Room and are beginning to be very independent little students in the classroom! We continue to grow as we share, socialize, and play.

Classroom Activities:

  • Each student painted their hands to create their own hand print as a part of a Mother’s Day card. The students enjoyed playing with the finger paint afterwards!
  • We sang songs with Noel, read stories with Lindsay, and visited Janae and Julia for art.
  • We have been working on waiting patiently and waiting for our turn to come as we sing the “Hello" and "Goodbye" song.
  • We had a chance to see the Polar Bear performance of “Pete The Cat”, as a part of the 3’s theater week. The students were so engaged in the show, and even started to dance when the Polar Bear students would move around during the show!

Songs We Sang:
  • “If You’re Happy and You Know It"
  • “Old McDonald Had a Farm"

Books We Read:
  • “Where’s Spot”, by Eric Hill
  • “Spot Goes to the Farm”, by Eric Hill

We hope you have a great weekend!

Week of 4/30

5/3/2018

Hello Sky Room Families!

We had so much fun this week in the Sky Room. We continue to grow and learn as we embrace the school routine. This week, we learned a little bit about the Ocean!

Classroom Activities:

  • We made star fish using orange paper, tissue paper, and glitter. The students were asked to place some glue onto the star fish, and then add some tissue paper squares. After they covered their star fish, they then added some glitter!
  • We ventured to Gym 3 to play with the blocks, bikes, and balls!
  • We visited Janae and Julia in the Art Studio to explore the different centers – the tactile bin, the light table, the magnetic wall, and the book nook.
  • Noel came to see us and sang all of our favorite tunes. The students seem to be getting the hang of finger play, and are now singing along to the “Where is Thumb-kin” song, while maneuvering their fingers.

Songs We Sang:
  • “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes"
  • “Take Me Out To The Ocean"

Books We Read:

  • Dear Zoo, by Rod Campbell
  • Spot the Animals, by the American Museum of Natural History

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week of 4/16

4/20/2018

Hello Sky Room Families!

We had a great time this week in the Sky Room! The students are continuing to thrive and become more and more comfortable with their school routine.

Classroom Activities:

  • We made rainy day umbrellas! First, the students glued down an umbrella to a piece of black paper. Using small foam shapes, the students worked very hard on their fine motor skills by peeling off the piece of white paper and adhering the shape to their picture. They then decorated their umbrella picture with adding on some gems and glitter, just to brighten up their "rainy day”!
  • The students used brown dot markers to make dots all over a ‘muddy pig’!
  • We also sang songs with Noel, and listened to stories with Lindsay.
  • We also visited the Art Studio, where we used finger paints and the light table.

Songs We Sang:
  • “Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun”
  • “Take Me Out To Ballgame"

Books We Read:

  • Babies on the Go, by Linda Ashman
  • Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo, by Kevin Lewis

Reminders:
  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, 4/24. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Have a great weekend!
