Hello Sky Room Families!

We have been continuing to learn all about Winter and snow this week in the Sky Room. The students have been really enjoying hearing about the winter weather, and making predictions about if and when it may snow! 

Classroom Activities:

• After reading “The Snowy Day”, by Ezra Jack Keats, each student created their own “snowy day” scene using water color and glue. After the students water-colored their papers using thin paintbrushes, they pasted the main character, Peter, on top of their snow. 
• We made our first ever patterns using snowmen wearing different colored hats! The students learned what an AB pattern is, and chose two colors to use to make their own unique patterns.
• We made play dough with the Rainbow Room!
• We had so much fun on a playdate with the big 4-year-olds in the Yellow Room
• Using shaving cream and paint, we decorated “puffy” hats and mittens

Hello Sky Room Families!
 
Happy New Year! We were so excited to be back together in the Sky Room this week. The students were so happy to be back at school, and loved sharing their wonderful experiences from the holiday break. 
 
This week we started to learn all about Winter. Here are a few highlights of the exciting activities we have been doing this week:
 
Classroom Activities:

• After discussing the types of clothes we wear in Winter, the students dressed themselves by placing hats, gloves and jackets on themselves. These works of art are currently sleigh riding on our outside bulletin board.
• The students worked on identifying size order circles and made their own snowmen. Looking at a small, medium, and large circle, the students had to place the circles in the correct order to create a snowman. Through prompts, the students then identified two eyes, a nose, stick arms, buttons, and a scarf to finish creating their snowman. Each snowman turned out looking very unique!
• We worked on our fine motor skills by using tongs to pick up pom-poms and place into a bowl. They then sorted out pom-poms by color and size!
• Using strings, buttons, and spools, we laced together necklaces.
