5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a gate
The 1st one said “Oh my its getting late”
The second one said, “There are witches in the air”
The 3rd one said, “but we don’t care.”
The 4th ones said, “Lets run and run and run”
The 5th ones said, “I’m read for some fun”
woooo went the wind and out went the lights
And the 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight

"I'm A Little Pumpkin”
I’m a little pumpkin
Orange and round
Here is my stem
And here is the ground
When I get all cut up
don’t you shout
Just open me up
And scoop me out

“Stirring The Brew"
Stirring and Stirring and stirring  The brew
Wooo oooo, woooo oooo
Stirring and Stirring and stirring The brew

Week of 10/16

10/20/2017

Dear Rainbow Families,

We had an exciting week in the Rainbow Room!  Below is an update on what your children learned this week at Montclare. Our theme this week was colors.

Books we read:
  • Little Blue and Little Yellow, by Leo Lionni
  • Mouse Paint, by Ellen Stoll Walsh
  • They Crayon Box that Talked, by Shane Derolf and Michael Letzig

Songs we sang:

             Color Mixing:
When you mix red and blue
             It makes purple
When you mix red and blue
             It makes purple
When you mix these two you’ll see
             A New color magically
When you mix red and blue
             It makes purple
(same for red and yellow and then blue and yellow)

             Color Chant:
When I say red put your hands on your head
When I say blue put your hands on your shoe
When I say black put your hands on your back
When I say brown move your hands all around
When I say green wipe your face real clean
When I say pink just think think think
What I say white squeeze your fingers real tight

Places we went:
  • We played in the gym and rode bikes
  • We pretended to be animals in movement
  • We window painted in art

Classroom Activities:
  • We learned about color mixing.  We sat down and watched what happens when you mix yellow and red, or red and blue, or blue and yellow.  Then we sang our color mixing song.  After we learned about color mixing the children picked the two colors of their choice, we painted one hand one color and the other hand the other color.  After making two hand prints the children mixed their hands together to see what happened.
