Classroom Activities:
  • After reading the book, Oliver’s Vegetables we talked about the different kinds of vegetables in the story that Oliver found and tried.  We discussed where they grew and what colors they are.  We then took a closer look at some vegetables on the rug.  We passed around carrots and cucumbers and the children got to see how they felt.  We talked about the color and the size.  We took guesses if it would be the same color inside when we cut them open.  After that the children made silly carrots for a art project.  And of course we got to eat the veggies for snack.
  • We read the story Little Pea.  After reading we talked about what color little pea was what his shape.  We then took a look at some sugar snap peas on the rug.  The children got to hold it and see what it felt like. We then opened them up and got to see the peas inside,  we passed around the pea, talked about how they felt, there color, size and shape.  Some of us even tried eating a snap pea.  After looking at them we made peas in a pod as an art project.
