Dear Rainbow Room Parents,
 
We had another exciting week!  Below is an update on what the Rainbow Room children learned this week at Montclare. Our Theme this week was Valentine’s Day/Nursery Rhymes
 
Books we read:

• The Silliest Valentine EVER!, by Siobhan Ciminera
• The Valentines Bear, by Eve Bunting
• Plant A Kiss, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

 
Places we went:

• We had a card exchange for valentines day
• We sang songs in music
• We did beading and painted with fun rollers in Art.

 
 

Classroom Activities:

• This week we continued to talk about valentines day and worked on our Valentines to send home.  We talked about who we love and why.

• Nursery Rhymes

• The Best Thing About Valentines, by Eleanor Hudson
• Mouse’s First Valentine, by Lauren Thompson
• Plant A Kiss, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

 
Places we went:
 

• We did an obstacle course in movement class and pretended to be animals.
• We played with artificial snow in Art and also put some items in water to see if they would sink or float.

 

Classroom Activities:

• This week we started talking about valentines day and things that mean “I love you”.  We then made heart shape valentine puppets.  The children got to use different materials to decorate heart shaped foam puppets.

• Don’t forget to bring in Valentines by February 11th.  One for each child in the class (9).

We had another exciting week!  Below is an update on what the Rainbow Room children learned this week at Montclare.  Our Theme this week was feelings.
 
Books we read:

• When Sophie Gets Angry – Really, Really, Angry…, by Molly Bang
• The Story of My Feelings, by Laurie Berkner
• The Chocolate-Covered-Cookie TANTRUM, by Gillian Shields

 
Places we went:

• We read Another Monster At The End Of This Book, by Jon Stone in Library
• We played in the gym
• We painted with water colors in art

 

Classroom Activities:

• This week we talked about feelings.  How we can be happy, sad, mad, silly, scared, shy etc. The kids practiced making all kinds of faces.  We then made feeling frames and got to pick a feeling face to make to put in the frame.

• Valentines day

 
Reminders:

• We will be having a children only Valentine’s celebration on Wednesday, February 13th.
