Week of 10/15

Dear Koala Room Families,
 
We had another exciting week! We finished up talking about Fall and next week we will move on to Halloween! 
 
Books we read:
 

• The Lonely Phone Boot, by Peter Ackerman
• The Apple Pie Tree, by Zoe Hall
• Ten Apples Up On Top, by Dr. Seuss
• The Enormous Elephant Show, by Liza Charlesworth

Places we went:

• Moved in Gym 3 with scarves 
• Rode bikes in Gym 2
  
• Made a Farmer's Market in Gym 3 and sold our crops!

 
Classroom Activities:

•  Learned all about the letter E
• Spotted what was different with four different pictures
• Tasted Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, McIntosh and Red Delicious apples and charted our favorites
• Drew E's in shaving cream
• Worked number recognition after reading Ten Apples Up On Top
• Made apple sandwiches for snack!
• Danced to the Bean Bag Boogie
• Worked on our dexterity by squeezing tissue paper for our leaves
• Made Mat-Man
• Worked on our spatial visualization skills with tangrams and by making lead puzzles of our own
• Painted spooky and goofy pumpkins

 
Theme this week:

• We talked about Apples and Pumpkins
• Next week we will start learning about Halloween/Bats and Spiders
