Dear Koala Room Families,

We had so much fun this week learning about Valentine’s Day. Here are some of the fun activities:
 
Theme:
  • The Koala Room learned about Valentine’s Day
 
Books We Read:
  • The Three Little Pigs, by Patricia Seibert
  • I Love Hugs, by Tasha Percy
  • Love, Splat, by Rob Scotton
  • Clifford’s First Valentine’s Day, by Norman Bridwell
  • I Love You Through and Through, by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak
 
Centers:
  • We worked on our writing - Love is…the children had so much fun coming up with great ideas
  • We made AAB and ABC patterns using harts and bear images.
  • We played a game with sequencing cards.
  • We had fine motor fun practicing with scissors
  • We practiced our counting with Number Sequencing Puzzles
  • For science we estimated how many candy harts we can fit in our hand
 
Highlights:
        It was so much fun playing in gym with parachutes!
 
 
Person of the Week:
  • Jack Fry
  • We loved learning about Jack and asking him about his favorite things!  
 
Letter of the Week:
  • Our letter of the week was the letter “P”
  • The Kola Bears made a chart of all the “P” words they know and we used playdoh to practice writing the letter “P”

Dear Koala Room Families,

This was our last week talking about cultures. Thank you so much to the parents who volunteered their time, it was so educational for all of us ! Here are some of the festive activities we did:
 
Theme:
  • The Koala Room learned about Cultures
 
Books We Read:
  • Go, Go, Gecko-Mobile!, By Simon Spotlight
  • Mat Man Shapes, By Jan Olsen
  • My First Chinese New Year, By Karen Katz
  • New Year’s Cleanup, By George Daugherty
  • Whoever You Are, By Mem Fox
 
Centers:
  • We practiced our cutting and coloring and we made beautiful Lunar New Year lanterns
  • We voted what shape our Mat Man should have, heart was the winner!
  • We played “Progressive Puzzles”
  • We explored water beads
  • We practiced our counting with number matching game “Unlock It”- the children had so much fun finding the right key to unlock locks! 
  • For cooking, the children had a chance to try polish pierogi and polish kielbasa.
 
Highlights:
  • It was so much fun to learn about Lunar New Year. Thank you Jason and Max, and Joy and Henry, we learn so much about Chinese culture.
  • We “visited” Poland, it was pleasure to teach Koala Room Children about country where I’m from.
 
Something Fun we Did:
  • We had Assembly, it was so much fun signing with the entire school !
 
Letter of the Week:
  • Our letter of the week was the letter “D”
  • The Kola Bears made a chart of all the “D” words they know and we used play-doh to practice writing the letter “D”

Dear Koala Room Families,

We had so much fun this week learning about different Cultures. Thank you so much to the parents who already  volunteered their time to talk about their countries and I’m looking forward to next week to learn even more. Here are some of the festive activities we did:
 
Theme:
  • The Koala Room learned about Cultures
 
Books We Read:
  • The Mitten, by Jan Brett
  • Secret Agent Mater, by Melissa Lagonegro
  • Look What Come from Mexico, by Miles Harvey
  • Bear Snores On, by Karma Wilson
  • Fiesta, by Ginger Foglesong Guy
 
Centers:
  • We worked on our first writing - Inside my mitten is… the children had so much fun coming up with great ideas
  • We decorated mittens by using tape and colored markers
  • We played "Classifying" game
  • We explored winter seasons by playing “Match the Seasons” game
  • We measured our heights using mittens  
  • For science we explored water beads
 
Highlights:
  • It was so much fun to “visit”:
  • Mexico with Carlos and Gian-Luca
  • India with Sunaina and Rhea
  • England with Rita and Reia
  • New Zealand with Martin and Parker
 
Something Fun we Did:
  • We had music with Noel
 
Person of the Week:
  • Gian-Luca De Paz
  • We loved learning about Gian-Luca and asking him about his favorite things! Paw Patrol toys are The Koala Room favorite too!
