Dear Koala Room Families,

We had so much fun this week learning all about the Holiday's! We are beginning to focus on Hannukkah as it begins this Sunday!

Classroom Activities:

Learned about the Letter U
Practiced our cutting, and even started prepping ad cutting up materials for our Winter Benefit Auction Project!
Made AAB and ABC patterns using images of menorahs and latkes
Decorated Dreidels using a variety of materials

Books we read:

How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Chanukah? By Jane Yolen
Mrs. Greenberg’s Messy Hanukkah, by Linda Glaser
Hanukkah A Counting Book, by Emily Sper

Places we went:

We played in Gym 2 and Gym 3
Visited with Julia and Janae in Art
Library with Lindsay
Movement with Lindsay
Music with Noel

Letter of the Week:

“U”! An Unbelievable letter!

Person of the Week:

Important Dates:

December 18th is our holiday party from 3:45-4:15

Dear Koala Room Families,

We had so much fun this week learning all about Leaves! We hope you enjoyed the leaf hunt as much as we did.

Classroom Activities:

Learned about the Letter I
Practiced our cutting
Made AB and ABC leaf patterns
Sorted leaves by category as well as size
Drew self portraits
Completed a fun color-by-number leaf activity
Drew a new and improved Mat Man!

Books we read:

We Are Going On A Leaf Hunt, by Steve Metzger
Louie the Leaf, by Jeff Vangeston
Let It Fall, by Maryann Cocca-Leffler

Places we went:

Central Park!
We played in Gym 2 and Gym 3

Dear Koala Room Families,

We had a great week learning about Halloween and beginning our Leaf Unit! We had an absolute blast trick or treating. It was so much fun visiting the second AND third floor classrooms.

Books we read:

The Lonely Scarecrow, by Tim Preston
Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson
Glad Monster, Sad Monster, by Ed Emberley

Places we went:

We went to the second floor gym and built a boat!
We had movement with Lindsay and completed obstacle courses.
Trick-or-treat! We had so much fun trick or treating all throughout the school.

Classroom Activities:

Learned about the Letter T
Practiced our cutting
Practiced tracing our names and shapes
Worked on some tangram puzzles
Sequenced cards with 4 part events
Played a shape and color memory game
“Lace and Trace” Halloween cards
Made spooky hands and skeletons using black paint, “bones”, and googley eyes
