Hello Koala Bear Families!

We had another amazing week in the Koala Bear Room! This week we learned about Halloween, and even got to examine a big, round Pumpkin and some mini pumpkins.

Classroom Activities:
  • We used three different colored and textured rectangular pieces of cloth - some with velcro, snaps, and buttons - to connect and create our own unique AB and ABC patterns.
  • By feeling, smelling and looking, we examined a pumpkin, and learned about what it means to form a hypothesis.  The students each made educated guesses as to what could be inside of a pumpkin before we cut it open.
  • Worked on our phonics with a rhyming activity
  • Created a giant spiderweb using our tables, chairs, masking tape, and ripped up strips of paper. It was very exciting!

Places We Went
  • Music with Noel
  • Library with Lindsay
  • Art with Julia and Janae
  • The Roof
  • Gym 2 and 3

Books We Read:

  • The Spooky Wheels on the Bus, J. Elizabeth Mills
  • Cliffords Halloween, Norman Birdwell

Hello Koala Bear Families!

We had another great week in the Koala Bear Room! We have been continuing to learn all about Fall and having so much fun focusing on Pumpkins and Leaves this week.

Classroom Activities:
  • The students chose a number between 1-10 and had to count out that number of buttons and then glue onto their paper pumpkin
  • We cut up four pieces of a leaf, numbered 1-4, and had the students assemble the leaf in the correct order (as if it were a leaf puzzle)!
  • We made jack o lantern faces using orange paint, glue, googly eyes, and different shapes for the nose, mouth, and teeth!
  • We tore up red, green and yellow paper to create our paper plate apples! The students chose which color apple they wanted to make, which seemed to be based on which type of apple they liked to eat them most!

Hello Koala Bear Families!

We had another great week in the Koala Bear Room! We have been learning all about Fall, and have focused on learning about Apples. We also got to meet Mat Man for the first time! The students LOVED hearing the Mat Man song — many times!

Classroom Activities:
  • Made a 4 part sequence using images of an apple at different stages of being eaten.
  • Drew Mat Man as a whole group.
  • Drew our own Mat Men individual pictures.
  • We took a vote on which apple was our favorite, and graphed our results – red, yellow, or green. We talked about which apple had more, less, or if any were the same.
  • The students used dot markers to complete an apple pattern! These were AB and ABC patterns.
