Hello Koala Bear PM Families!

It’s been a fun-filled week yet again in the Koala Bear Room! We have continued to learn all about transportation. The students love sharing what type of transportation they took to school each day this week!

Centers:
  • We took out the large wooden blocks to create different types of transportation. In groups, we had the students discuss what types of transportation they’d like to make.  They created trains, cars, planes, and even some submarines!
  • We worked on our visual discrimination skills by playing a same and different matching game with cars, boats, planes, and helicopters
  • We completed transportation pattern block mats

Some Books We Read:

  • Whose Vehicle Is This?, by Sharon Cooper
  • Cool Cars, by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker
  • The Little Airplane, by Lois Lenski

Letter of the Week:

  • Y! A letter that makes you want to say, “Y”ahoo!

Dates to Remember:

  • Friday, May 31st is our class trip to Victorian Garden’s! Please meet us at the park at 10 am. Every child needs to be accompanied by one chaperone, and there will be no school that day.
  • Our end of year party will be on Wednesday, June 5th from 3:30-4:15 pm.
  • Our last day of school is Friday, June 7th!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Hello Koala Bear PM Families!

We are SO proud of all of the hard work the students did in order to put on their fantastic rendition of Pete The Cat: I Love My White Shoes! They truly did an amazing job. Thank you all again for coming out to see our show.

For the remainder of the week, we started our unit on Transportation. We learned about how we get from one place to another using air, ground, and water transportation.

Centers:
  • We used a variety of paper shapes to create our own imaginative images of different types of transportation.
  • Practiced cutting out shapes of cars, planes, and boats
  • Made transportation patterns using bikes, planes, trains, and taxis

Some Books We Read:

  • The Little Engine That Could, by Watty Piper
  • The Circus Ship, by Chris Van Dusen
  • How to Train A Train, by Jason Carter Eaton

Letter of the Week:

  • X! An E“x”cellent letter!

Dates to Remember:

Hello Koala Bear PM Families!

This week we have been continuing to learn all about Theater! The students have been working on the backdrop and practicing their lines and songs as well. We have also been talking about Mother’s Day. The students made a very special and thoughtful gift for all of their moms. We hope you love it!

Theater Week Updates:
  • We picked out which cat ears to wear for the show!
  • We made grass for our backdrop as well by using scissors to cut up some green paper.
  • We found that we needed to reinforce our guitars, so the students brainstormed as to how we could make our guitars a bit sturdier. They all concluded that by adding more popsicle sticks to the back would help keep the guitar in good shape!
  • The students drew on some shoelaces to their Pete the Cat shoes
  • We are continuing to rehearse multiple times a day, so we can get used to being performers!

Some Books We Read:

  • Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, by James Dean

Letter of the Week:

  • W! A “W”onderful letter!

Dates to Remember:

  • The end of the year trip to Victorian Gardens is on Friday, May 31st. Every child must be accompanied by an adult. No siblings, please.

Have a wonderful weekend!
