  • Soon, the children will be tackling scenery!

Week of 4/8

Books We Read:
  • The Tiny Seed, by Eric Carle
  • Flower Garden, by Eve Bunting

Places We Went:
  • Library with Lindsay
  • The roof and Gym2

Classroom Activities:
  • We painted flowerpots and planted string bean seeds.  The Honey Bears can’t wait to see them grow!
  • We did a seed grows sequence story, traced and colored a flower and put together a plant parts puzzle.
  • The children counted flowers to match the correct flower pot and used our felt board to tell a gardening story.
  • We read a Scholastic Magazine titled Here Comes the Sunflower and the children couldn’t believe how tall sunflowers can get!

Highlights:
  • The class had a ball making and eating “dirt.”  We made chocolate pudding and combined it with a crushed Oreo and a gummy worm.  What a yummy treat!
  • We learned a new song about flowers to the tune of “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.”

Flowers, leaves, stems and roots,
Stems and roots.
Flowers, leaves, stems and roots,
Stems and roots.
Please don’t sneeze,
There’s pollen in the breeze.
Achoo!
Flowers, leaves, stems and roots,
Stems and roots!

  • Clara Nephew was our Person of the Week.  She did an amazing job telling us about her poster and her family.  Her mom read King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub by Audrey Wood.  Then we made beaded jewelry with pipe cleaners and beads.  What a fun morning!
